AEC/Polifonia conference ‘After Tuning There Is Articulation - Towards a stronger subject-specific dimension of the Bologna process after 2010, with music as an example’, Gent 12-13 February 2010
It is still possible to register for the important conference organised by the ERASMUS Network for Music ‘Polifonia’ and the AEC on the subject-specific approach to the Bologna Declaration process. Representatives of various key European organisations in higher education, such as the European Commission, the Bologna Secretariat, EUA, ENQA, ESU, EURASHE and AEC will address this topic in presentations, a panel discussion and workshops prepared by the Bologna and Accreditation Working Groups of the ‘Polifonia’ Network. AEC response to EU report on Quality Assurance in Higher Education
The AEC has published a response to the progress report published by the European Commission on quality assurance in higher education. In its response, the AEC describes the current status of its activities in the field of quality assurance and formulates a set of recommendations to the EU progress report. AEC Regional Seminar on Research in Higher Music Education, Novi Sad 16 February
In the framework of the Sida project ‘Widening Participation on the Road to Membership’, a seminar on the role of research in higher music education is being prepared by the ‘Polifonia’ Research Working Group. The seminar will take place at the music faculty of the Academy of Arts of the University of Novi Sad (Serbia) on 16 February. A limited participation of representatives in institutions in South-East Europe outside the project partnership is possible. Those interested in participating in this seminar, should contact the Sida Team at the AEC Office.

AEC published proceedings International Symposium on Performance Science 2009
The AEC has published the proceedings of the International Symposium on Performance Science (ISPS) 2009, which took place in Auckland (New Zealand) 15-18 December 2009. The ISPS 2009 Proceedings can be found at www.performancescience.org.

REMINDER: AEC Pop & Jazz Platform Meeting 2010
Following its highly successful meeting at the Conservatory of Amsterdam last year, the AEC Pop & Jazz Platform will realise its next meeting on 5-6 February at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn. The programme will include sessions on conservatoires in contemporary society, the role of genres and project-based learning, leadership and public engagement for jazz and popular musicians. Foundations for Excellence Conference on well-being of musicians and dancers publishes report
The Foundations for Excellence initiative in the UK has published an interesting report following its conference in Dartington in February 2009, which aimed at discussing issues related to health and well-being of young musicians and dancers. The report can be downloaded here.

Royal College of Music in London launches international survey on composers’ training
A major survey of composers has been launched by the Royal College of Music Centre for Music and Multimedia. The survey seeks to investigate the appropriateness and effectiveness of training and education opportunities for music composers, both in prospect and retrospect. Le sujet sera traité par des représentants de diverses organisations européennes, partenaires majeurs de l’enseignement supérieur – telles la Commission européenne, le secrétariat de Bologne, l’EUA, l’ENQA, l’ESU, l’EURASHE et l’AEC - lors de présentations, un débat public et des ateliers préparés par les groupes de travail "Bologne" et "Accréditation" du réseau « Polifonia ». Réponse de l’AEC au rapport de l’UE sur l’assurance qualité dans l’enseignement supérieur
L’AEC a publié une réponse au rapport de situation sur l'assurance qualité dans l'enseignement supérieur publié par la Commission européenne. L’AEC y décrit l’état actuel de ses activités dans le domaine de l’assurance qualité et formule un ensemble de recommandations pour le rapport de situation de l’UE. Séminaire régional AEC sur la recherche dans l’enseignement musical supérieur, Novi Sad, le 16 février
Dans le cadre du projet SIDA ‘Widening Participation on the Road to Membership’, le groupe de travail "Polifonia" Recherche prépare un séminaire sur le rôle de la recherche dans l’enseignement musical supérieur. Il aura lieu à la faculté de musique de l’Académie des arts de l’université de Novi Sad (Serbie), le 16 février. Possibilité de participation (limitée) de représentants d’institutions du Sud-Est de l’Europe non partenaires du projet. Les personnes intéressées sont priées de contacter l’équipe SIDA au AEC Office.

RAPPEL : Réunion de la plateforme AEC pop & jazz en 2010
Suite au succès de la réunion au Conservatoire d’Amsterdam au début de l’année, la plateforme AEC pop & jazz se réunira de nouveau les 5 & 6 février à l’Académie estonienne de musique et de théâtre à Tallinn. Sont prévues des sessions de travail sur la place des conservatoires dans la société contemporaine, le rôle de l’apprentissage par genre et par projet, le leadership et l’engagement public pour les musiciens pop et jazz. Es ist noch möglich, sich für die wichtige Konferenz anzumelden, die das ERASMUS-Netzwerk für Musik „Polifonia“ und die AEC zur fachspezifischen Herangehensweise an den Prozess der Bologna-Erklärung organisiert haben. AEC-Reaktion auf den EU-Bericht zur Qualitätssicherung in der Hochschulbildung

Regionales AEC-Seminar zur Forschung in der Musikhochschulbildung, Novi Sad, 16. Februar
Im Rahmen des Sida-Projektes „Widening Participation on the Road to Membership“ (Ausweitung der Beteiligung auf dem Weg zur Mitgliedschaft) organisiert die „Polifonia“-Forschungsarbeitsgruppe ein Seminar zur Rolle der Forschung in der Musikhochschulbildung. Das Seminar wird am 16. Februar in der Musikfakultät der Akademie der Künste der Universität zu Novi Sad (Serbien) stattfinden. Eine begrenzte Teilnahme durch Repräsentanten von Institutionen aus Südosteuropa, die nicht zu den Projektpartnern gehören, ist möglich. Wer an diesem Seminar teilnehmen möchte, möge sich an das Sida-Team im AEC-Büro wenden.

„Foundations for Excellence“ veröffentlicht Konferenzbericht zum Wohlbefinden von Musikern und Tänzern
Die „Foundations for Excellence“-Initiative in UK hat im Anschluss an ihre Konferenz in Dartington im Februar 2009, bei der man Fragen hinsichtlich der Gesundheit und des Wohlbefindens von jungen Musikern und Tänzern diskutierte, einen interessanten Bericht veröffentlicht, der hier heruntergeladen werden kann.

Royal College of Music in London startet Erhebung zur Ausbildung von Komponisten
Das Royal College of Music Centre for Music and Multimedia hat eine umfassende Umfrage unter Komponisten gestartet. Diese Erhebung soll die Zweckmäßigkeit und Effektivität des Unterrichts und der Ausbildungsmöglichkeiten von Komponisten erforschen, und zwar sowohl was die Perspektiven wie auch die Retrospektive anbelangt.
