The AEC Pop & Jazz Platform

The AEC organises a meeting of the AEC Pop and Jazz Platform Meeting in cooperation with a different AEC member institution each year. The meeting offers excellent opportunities for networking and discussions on topics relevant for Pop and Jazz Departments.

The last AEC PJP Meeting took place in Amsterdam, 13-14 February 2009, in cooperation with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

For the meeting in Amsterdam, the PJP working group has prepared a programme, which is divided into various sessions about specific topics:

• A key-note speech entitled “Jazz in the Global Village” by author and jazz critic Stuart Nicholson.
• A session entitled “The focus of the PJP: Contemporary education in music or Education in contemporary music?”, which will discuss current and future Europe development of the contemporary music education.
• A session about the use of new technologies and media in contemporary music education.
